All,

Sql 2000 sp4, server 2000 sp4

I have a client that has a lot of dts packages, more than I've ever seen in
my life. They have a lot of activex and vb script inside the dts packages. I
am wondering how this affects speed? Also stored procs are not the norm as
they have inline sql in most of these as well. Anyone have any comments?

Hi

This sounds like a management nightmare! Is the functionality fully
documented?

WRT the activeX scripts performance is only an issue if there are
alternative ways of doing the task, if there is then you could test it and
produce a quantitative comparison.

You don't say whether the packages are for a one-off exercise or a period
process?

For advatages of using stored procedures, you may want to read the question
"Are Stored Procedures Being Used Whenever Possible?" in
http://www.sql-server-performance.c...> ce_audit8.asp
