Can SQL 2005 and SQLExpress coexist on the same computer?

Sorry, but what would be the sense of that ?

Sorry, but I don't see the sense of your question.

He means: Why would you want to do such a thing? It seems
silly. I agree.

Why do you need 'em both?

That was not to blame you, just to get know what you want to do with that,
perhaps there is no need to do this and you can handl it with the
installation of SQL Server 2005 rather than both.

My SQLExpress is not responding. While I am trying to figure out why, I would
like to install SQL 2005 just to see if I can get it to respond.
I'll use whatever database that works. Right now I can't get neither
SQLExpress or SQL 2005 to respond.

I don't think it's supported. In the VS 2005 Beta 2 / SQL 2K5 Beta 2
installation notes it says that if you want to install SQL2K5, you
should not install SQL Express in the VS 2005 Beta install. I can only
assume that at this juncture, it means they won't coexist.

I have already installed SQL 2K5Beta2 first, followed by Whidbey Beta2. Both
SQL Express and SQL 2K5 Beta2 exist on my machine. Of course the first one is
the default instance and the later installed one has to be a named instance.
Hope that helps!
