Dear Sir,
I have a server with one SQL 2000 Instance <Enterprise version>, after
applied SP3a <I tried also SP4>, success, restarted, the Product version is
still 8.00.194<RTM>.
How come the service pack didn't take effect? I am using an local admin.
acct already. Also, I can't successfully install Report Service as it
required SP3a!
Any idea? Many thanks!

Hi Henry

How are you checking the version number?

It seems like there may have been a problem installing the service pack, but
you should have been notified that it failed. Check the sqlsp.log in the
windows or winnt directory and the information in the Sql Server Log file.

It could be that you have multiple instances in which case you need to
upgrade all of them.

Make sure that you are trying to install the correct service pack file and
also that you are not just unzipping them!
