| In SQL 7 my SQL is called MachineName (Windows NT) as seen in SQL Manager
under Microsoft SQL Servers under SQL Server Group. But in my SQL 2000
machine in the same location it says (LOCAL)(Windows NT). Is it possible to
change this LOCAL to the MachineName and if so how? Do I need to unregister
it and then re-register it? Thanks.

| hello,
if you want your ent. manager to use the netbios name of the local server
you have, as you said, to un and re-register it.

| OK thanks that works fine. I noticed though that the available SQL servers
in the Network were not available on left hand side of the Wizard. I can
type the name in manually and Add and proceed with the Registration. Is
there something that isn't right so that the available SQL servers are not
available to be Added in that Wizard by default? I seem to have good
communication in the Network.
