Author SQL Performance Counters Missing

Hi, Have you ever found that SQL Performance Counters go missing?? My
counters for SQL are not listed in the performance monitor although they are
not disabled in the registry. I already ran the “lodctr sqlctr.ini” command
and it states that the MSSQLSERVER counter is already loaded. There were
missing keys in the registry which I added according to
http://www.extremeexperts.com/SQL/F...rCounters.aspx. I also used
the Exctrlst.exe program that is included in the Windows 2000 Resource Kit to
check if the counters are configured correctly, and the counter is listed in
this utility.

Thanks in advance

Jannie

Hi Surajit,

Thanks or your reply. I noticed that this article applies to SQL server 6.5.
I forgot to mention that I am running SBS 2003 with SQL server 2000 SP4. I
can't see that this article is applicable to my problem. But anyway, there
are no errors logged when I attempt to open the performance monitor. Thanks
for your quick response.

Kind Regards,

Jannie

I've seen this a lot of times when teaching SQL classes.
This usually happens when you install SQL Server with a service account
which has not enough permissions on the server.
Check the permissions and rerun setup solved the problem in most cases.

There is an issue that was suppose to be fixed in SP 4 but
who knows...maybe not. If no records are returned when you
query sysperfinfo, then take a look at the following (I've
seen cases where the error message isn't always logged so
that wouldn't necessarily rule this out as an issue).
