Author SQL 2000 Service Pack 3a Fails to authenticate

I am trying to run service pak 3a against SQL 2000 SP2 and it will not
let me past the authentication stage. It is set to mixed mode and
neither the sa password or mine are accepted. Could there be another
issue stopping me at this point since I should have admin privileges
and I am 99.9% sure the sa password is correct.

I am stumped.

Thanks!

If there is some doubt as to the SA password create another with SYSADMIN
rights and use that.
