Does anyone know if the MS SQL 7 client can connect to a MSSQL 6 database?
We have a 6 running that can't be upgraded and now it's in need of some TLC.

It's been a while but i seem to remember. SQL 7 client can connect to SQL
6.5, but SQL 7 EnterPrise Manager can't control SQL 6.5 installs.

If you've got a spare client PC give it a try...

I don't remeber or sure, but I don't think you can do it.

You may be stuck with isql and/or osql.

Correct. The 7.0 QA and the MDAC that came with 7.0 can connect downwards. But EM 7.0 can only
connect to 7.0 instance.

Thanks all. Unfortunately this application was purchased many years ago and
is only validated on SQL 6.5. The company has since gone out of business. I
may have to write a new app.

Thanks
Mike
