| Does anyone know if the MS SQL 7 client can connect to a MSSQL 6 database?
We have a 6 running that can't be upgraded and now it's in need of some TLC.

| It's been a while but i seem to remember. SQL 7 client can connect to SQL
6.5, but SQL 7 EnterPrise Manager can't control SQL 6.5 installs.
If you've got a spare client PC give it a try...

I don't remeber or sure, but I don't think you can do it.
You may be stuck with isql and/or osql.

| Correct. The 7.0 QA and the MDAC that came with 7.0 can connect downwards. But EM 7.0 can only
connect to 7.0 instance.

| Thanks all. Unfortunately this application was purchased many years ago and
is only validated on SQL 6.5. The company has since gone out of business. I
may have to write a new app.
