Author Scan events

Hi friends,

I'm curious about those events. Profiler shows scans regardles whether it's
index seek or real index scan. And values in Mode column seem to be not much
of help to filter out index seeks. What are they about in fact? Did anyone
use them for anything?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Alex

No one can explain why index seek on primary key throws out index scan
events in Profiler?
Gentlemen from SW giant, could you please elaborate a bit on that? After all
it is your recomendation to check out those events.

Hi Alex

I posted in another thread ~ 1 week ago ( http://tinyurl.com/ye7oc6 ) about
how I posted a question to the private SQL Server MVP discussion forum. I
never got an answer from anyone at MS in that discussion, so I don't like
your chances on getting a meaningful response out here..

I'd encourage you to place a call to PSS as they have a responsibility to
fix bugs.. Hopefully they'll do something about this even if enough people
request it be fixed..

Thanks Greg,

so I'm not alone in my...feelings.
Profiler is quite known for its mischievous behaviour, - I ran into such
case when it showed incorrect events and it was later confirmed from within
MS whereas server-side trace was always accurate source of trace data, well,
at least to my experience. But deplorably enough in this case both methods
are not trustworthy.
