WSUS--on a test server?

| Good Morning:
I have a quick question about WSUS.
WSUS is usually used for deployment on production servers and generally is
not used to conduct testing on test servers. Isn't that right?
You need to run validation scripts to conduct testing on test servers before
using WSUS to deploy on production servers. So, you would not use WSUS on
test servers. Isn't that right?
Thanks!

| Hi
In general your test environment should be controlled, so that things like
automatic updates etc do not impinge on the tests and skew results. You may
also find that the number of rebuilds in the test environment means that WSUS
is not as effective.
You should test your implementation of WSUS before putting it into
production, but that does not necessarily mean that you continue to use it on
the test server.

| Well, does that mean you can use WSUS on a test server? Or, can it only be
used on production servers? That's really what my question is.

| Hi
Yes it can, but whether you would want to is not always clear.
