Author FTP question

Greetings all. I very new to ftp, in fact I just learned about it only days
ago. A friend of mine showed me how to log into his server with ftp to see
if my dts package made it to the specified folder. After typing ftp and his
ip address from the command prompt I was prompted for a username and password
which he supplied and I was in. I am now trying to connect with my
workgroups own server with ftp just to play around with it, but when I type
ftp and the ip address from the command prompt I get the line "Connected to
'myIPaddress', then about 1second later I get "Connection closed by remote
host". So my question is what do I need to do on my server (SQL Server 2K)
to allow a ftp connection. I have all permissions needed to do whatever I
want on the machine. Thanks in advance
