SQL Server hangs when Server reboots
|
|
|
| Hi All,
I am having this strange behaviour on couple of our database servers. Our
system crashed and it got rebooted, but SQLServer hangs forever and its
status of service is always "Starting". After seeing this we try to reboot
the system, but same thing happens again and again.
Only way I could workaround that is
1. make all the three services SQLServer, SQLAgent and DTC to Manual mode
and again reboot the system.
2. After it is rebooted I manually started the SQLServer serice, then it
started just fine and
3. start SQLAgent and DTC services.
The reason I came up with this workaround is because the last line in the
SQL Server log when the SQLServer service is hanging is
2006-02-03 13:42:23.09 server Attempting to initialize Distributed
Transaction Coordinator.
Additional info: SQLServer and SQLAgent services are started with a specific
Windows account, where as DTC is started with "LocalSystem". DTC service
has started just fine, but SQLServer was hanging.
Did anyone happen to see this kind of behaviour? Any help is greatly
appreciated.
Thanks,
VM

| What service pack are you running?
Also could you post the few lines preceding the last line yo've posted.

| Hi,
Thanks for the reply. When I checked in both the systems Print spooler
service is disabled. I will check with system administrator about it and
test it.
Thanks a lot,
VM
