Tranaction Log Problem - Saving Table

Hi there,

I tried to alter a column in a table and received the following
message:

The log file for database 'dbname' is full. Back up the transaction log
for the database to free up some log space.

I then backed up the transaction log via Enterprise Manager but this
had no effect - i still receive the same message.

Any ideas?

Forget my last message - it works now!

No idea what happened - backed it up again and that seemed to work.

I may have over written old file instead off append - not sure though.
