Hi,
SQL 2000 is running on a cluster in a 2k3 AD.
What is the safest way to change SQL service account passwork without
affecting anything else, having the fact that that service account is a
member of backup operators group.
Thanks
Yba

Hi

The best method on a virtual server is through EM see

http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...kb;en-us;239885

These may also help
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/d...atabse_3c37.asp

Hi again,
Actually, I need only to change the password, not the account name. After
doing so through EM, will I still need to drop the SPN and create a new one,
as the article says, in its last paragraph?
Thanks
Yba

Hi

I have not used Kerberos.. but I believe that is only if you change the
account, I think that you don't need to drop the SPN if only changing the
password. You will soon find out if you need to!!!

After changing the password you should stop/start SQL Server. Quite often
service accounts do not have password expiry on them to avoid disruption to
service.
