| Any workaround for this? I am getting the same error when trying to apply
--> Service Pack 4 for Microsoft SQL Server 2000 "Analysis Services"

| The following worked for me. Make sure the following services are stopped
when applying SP4.
a. MSDTC - Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator
b. MSSEARCH - Microsoft Search
c. ReportServer - SQL Reporting Services
d. SQL Server Databases. Example, MOM or BizTalk
I hope this helps.

| I am pretty sure this error occurs because a handle is open to a file(s) that
the service pack needs access to and its probably a service. Try shutting
down antivirus software and other programs. You may also want to try
start>run>MSCONFIG "enter" and hide all Microsoft Services and shutdown
everything else, reboot then try to install the service pack. Good luck.
