| Unfortunately, I'm working offline so I can't check your error message but
most of these errors are caused by Express not being able to write to the
files (Express runs as Network Service which has very few privileges) or a
missing log file.

| Hi
Thanks.
Do you think if I install a "fuller" version (2000 or 2005) that it could
help?
Thanks.

| Either that or install Express to run as a domain account with more
privileges. You could also just grant access to the files.

| Thanks man.
My SQL Server was installed using mnixed mode auth, but origionally it was
with
Windows auth.
So I uninstalled it, and reinstalled it with mixed mode.
It worked.
Thanks again.

| You apparently live right. Authentication mode has nothing to do with
attaching databases but I assume uninstalling and reinstalling changed
something else that fixed your problem. Setup will set permissions on files
in the SQL directories so I assume that's what happened.
