SQL Computer Management
|
|
|
| Hi,
I have installed SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition as a named Instance on my
server but I am looking for the SQL Computer Management Option on the Start,
Program files, Microsoft SQL Server 2005 menu bar but I cant see it, I
installed everything with default options, is there something extra that I
need to do.
Thanks P

| Hi Uri,
I dont think it's the same as Computer Management, its for the monitoring
the execution of SISS packages, please see the link below
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pr...5/mgngssis.mspx
I did go and check to see if this is the same thing as Computer Management
as you previuosly described but I cannot get as far as services as it's
saying that it cannot find my SEMSFC.dll file, I looked this up as well and
was told to instal service pack 4 but this does not seem to help.
Thanks P
P.S. I seem to be having more problems that you can shake a stick at, I'm
just wondering whether it would be better for me to remove SQL2000
altogether, although not my prefered choice!!!

| It is the same - you should have SQL Server Configuration Manager inside the
Services & Applications node on the left. If it's missing it imples that you
haven't installed SSIS - I didn't install it on my Workgroup edition server,
and it's not there, which is what I expected to see.
The same tree can be viewed from Start -> Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server
2005 -> Configuration Tools -> SQL Server Configuration Manager.
The error regarding SEMSFC.dll looks like you installed SQL Enterprise
Manager or SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer after installing SQL Server 2005 -
if so, apparently that can cause problems. I have SQL EM on this PC, and
installed SQL Server Management Studio afterwards (I have SQL 7, SQL 2000,
and SQL 2005 servers to manage from this one desktop), and so far have had
no EM errors.

| Hi Dan,
I stand corrected this is the first time I have had to set 2005 up and still
trying to get my head around a few things. I have checked to make sure that
I have SSIS installed which I have and by following your instructions to get
to the Configuration Manager i can see that this service is also running, so
I am not sure why it doesn't appear in the original SQL Server 2005 program
group???
I have managed to fix the DLL file problem, I decided to restore my pc back
a couple of days and then re did the DTS editor and all seems fine now.
