SQL 2000 Ent 64 Bit is only for Itanium (IA64). not x64. You will need to
install 32-bit SQL Server 2000 or 64-bit SQL Server 2005 (x64).
And 32-bit SQL Server 2000 will work fine on Windows Server 2003 x64.

| Would you know if there is going to be support for this processor or should
we scrap this and move to the Itanium (IA64)

| SQL Server 2005 has native support for x64, but SQL 2000 does not. That
said, you can still use the 32-bit version of SQL2000 without any problems,
as long as you have SP4 installed.

I don't think there will be any more releases of SQL Server 2000, but don't
scrap the hardware.
Run 32-bit SQL 2000 for a while if you want, but you can run 64-bit SQL 2005
on that hardware just fine.

| Just 1 more question would there be any performance boost by using the 32 bit
version on the server. The server we have is a loaner from Hp to test here
and do not want to install our databases(almost 800gb) if there is going to
be no benifit to this. and we then can move on and test the IA64
By the way thank you for your quick reponse i have been looking for this
answer for a few hours today

Boost relative to what? 32-bit SQL Server will only be able to use 4GB of
RAM, but should perform well on that hardware.
