SP3 installation failed on SQL 2000 cluster

Hello Hi

I installed SQL 2000 cluster on a 2 node active passive cluster just fine
today.
When I tried to install SP3, it failed. The setup log doesn't tell much.

Now the SQL Resource won't come online and is stuck in 'online pending'
state which I have no set not to restart and is just 'failed' now.

If I try to run SP3 setup again, it tells me SQL Resource needs to be online
for setup to proceed. This is a wierd deadlocked situation I am in. SQL
Resource won't come online....and SP3 setup says it can't proceed because SQL
Resource is not online.

I am sure this is a pretty common situation. Installing SP's has always been
a pain for me.

Can anyone suggest how to proceed ? I really need some advise fast.

And select @@version shows 8.00.760 which is for SP3.

I am able to connect to the cluster virtual name through Query Analyzer
though, but not through Enterprise Manager.

Event log says cluster resource failed. But also says SQL Server entered
running state.

Not sure what is going on here.
