SQL 2005 Enterprise and SQL Express on same machines?

I am working on virtual server 2005 and have installed SQL Server 2005
Enterprise edition and Visual studio 2005 on windows server 2003 SP1.
During Visual Studio installation, there was an option to install SQL
Express. I didnt select sql express since there was an instance of SQL
Server 2005 Enterprise edition already available in my machine.
Now i am unable to connect to SQL server from visual studio IDE. Is it
because i didnt install SQL express?
Is it possible to install SQL Express after SQL Server 2005 is
installed on the system? Can both versions run on the same machine.
Someone please help me fix this problem!!!

1.Open VS2005
2. [Ctrl]+[Alt]+S to bring up server explorer
3. add a new dbconnection or server
