Hi,

I currently have a system which contains a bunch of relational tables
in Sql Server. I am currently reading a book on Analysis Services to
create a data warehouse to speed up querying of this data and as well
improve analysis. This will be queried from applications as well as
from reporting services.

So far so good but my current query is with regard to Fact Tables. At
the moment all of my tables are dimensional I do currently have fact
tables which are iteratively updated. Do I have to add fact tables to
my relational model and update them as the dimensional data is added,
removed and updated? I would rather define the fact tables measures
solely in analysis services and it automatically update as my
relational model changes.

Is this possible or even viable or have I gone insane?

Kind Regards,
Mark
