Author new server odbc problems

I change an odbc connection to a new server and test and it tests
successfully. I have an app that has the odbc in the shortcut and when I run
the app from the shortcut it tries to access the old server even though the
odbc setting is to the new server. The code in the app gains the location of
the dbase from the command line and does not have a hard code location. Why
is this happening and how can it be fixed?
