Author users lost connections to MSDE 2000

i have an MSDE 2000 on a server with win xp 2003
after i fixed all ODBC connections from users to the server
and restarted the server machine
all users lost the connections
i tried to fix it by named pipes and by tcp/ip with no results
where can be the problem?
