| Dear friends
I am conducting a survey on Relational Database usage and would like
your help. The study is part of my MBA Dissertation.
Could you kindly spare 5 minutes to take part in this survey?

Thanks

Comment: Under your locked in discussion you are missing the perhaps
most import point of all: Migration Cost
This has everything to do with dialects in the interfaces without
judging "superior features, ..."

| Thanks Serge. Appreciate the input. I agree I did not provide a
comprehensive list there. That is why I had the Other entry to provide
any additional input.

| Dear friends
If you are filling this survey and saw any errors suggesting that all
answers were not completed, please accept my apologies.
This is because all answerable questions need answers for all the
parts. Sorry for the inconvenience. Having an answer this way helps
with the statistics (even if it is a Don't know for a particular
question). I promise that the whole survey should still not take more
than 5-10 minutes in all. If you had tried to fill the survey and did
not because of any errors, please could you retry.
Thanks

My biggest complaint with respect to the survey is that the worst rating
possible is "average". Leaves no room to indicate the product is
substandard ... or worse.
What makes me most pleased about the survey is the fact that the author
actually took enough interest to post to c.d.o.marketplace instead of
spamming us. A rare occurence and worthy of note.

| How important do you see are the following aspects of a database to your
organization?
Performance
Scalability
Security
Manageability
You left out two extremely important factors:
Reliability
Support

And lets add Stability while we are at it.

I would put that as meaning essentially the same thing as "Reliability",
at least in the context of this survey.

| Also and related to it:
How easy is it to just "getting things done" on development side
or
how easy is it to follow business imperatives and initiatives.
Example of criteria: orthogonality (of programming interfaces and
programming constructs)
implementation of good old SQL-92 standard (as
row-value constructor)
