I've been struggling with this problem as well (trying to install
SQLServer 2000 on Windows XP-Pro).

"An error occurred while creating one or more registry entries. Please
see C:\Windows\sqlstp.log for details. The problem could be caused by a
low registry quota condition."

On XP at least the registry quota is not relevant as there is no
registry quota on XP. The registry permissions are the likely problem -
however, I've tried the various things already:
- Logged in as local administrator and tried to install (get the same
problem).

- Gave permissions to the user for the various registries
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\S
YSTEM\CurrentControl
Set\Services\MSSQLSe
rver
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\S
OFTWARE\Microsoft\MS
SQLServer
(and still see the same problem).

If anyone else has seen this and found a fix, I'd appreciate if they
could post it here. Thanks
