When I restart a machine, the following message appears, note that the
SQL Server status icon in the server tray has a blank circle:

The network path was not found.

When I double-click on the SQL Server status icon in the system tray
and select the SQL Server from the SQL Server Service Manager everthing
works fine. Does anybody know whats causing this and how to fix it?

Have you renamed your server recently? It sounds almost like a naming
issue; SQL Server is attemtping to start up under the old name. The
status manager (I believe) references localhost.

Just stabbing in the dark.
