Author checking connections: readpipe and makepipe

I have default instance of SQL Server 2000 Workgroup edition installed on XP
Professional. And, a default instance of SQL Server 2000 Enterprise edition
installed on Win 2000 advanced server. Both servers can connect to each other
fine and I can successfully run queries from one server to the other.

But, when I run the readpipe utility on the client server in conjunction
with the makepipe utility on the main server, I get the following error.
[Note: I have named pipes and TCP/IP installed on both the servers]:

SvrName:\\ClientSQLS
erver/DTestString
PIPE :\\ClientSQLServer / DTestString \pipe\abc
DATA :shutdown

Failed to Open Pipe, Status=53

Can someone please explain why I am getting the above error?

Thanks,
Nam
