Snapshot Replication setup please help
|
|
|
| Greetings,
I moved my complete database with Robocopy to another testing site. I want
to set up Snapshot Replication, but there is no option saying subscriber
already have schema and data.
is that must that when ever we are setting up Snapshot Replication, we must
have empty database at subscriber? please help me to find out how to
troubleshoot.
thanks and welcome great ideas.
John

| Paul, I already have data and schema in the subscriber database. Is there any
way that i can set up one way replication? i dotn want delete the data and
schema in subscriber database.
Because our scenario is moving data from one datacenter to another
datacenter Development, Pre Production and Production env.
I am going to setup snapshot replication between existing Production to Pre
Production of new datacenter. What do you think best in this scenario
Thanks,
John

| Paul, thank you.
still i have a doubt, is there any way that setting up snapshot replication
need empty database in subscriber? i saw in pdf files of MS saying even for
Transactional Replication we need empty database at subscriber?
you mean to say that when ever i am srtting up transactional replication,
intially i dont need to click the option "No, subscriber has already has the
schema and data". is this option work?
thanks once again

| John,
in transactional replication you can click this option. After that, only
changes to your data will get sent down, which I'm guessing is what you
require?
