| Jasper (and all others):
Thanks for the reply Jasper, but how do I get to the dialog with
"Feature selection page" with the advanced tab?
Right now there are some paths I try without success:
1) Control Panel >Add Remove Programs
2) select "Microsoft SQL Server" -- "Change"
3) On Fature Maint: Click on: "TO Install a new component, click here"
4) Navigate to Setup.exe in the "Servers" directory of the install
CD.
5) System Config Check Launches (click next, it passes ALL OK), click
next
5) "Tools Setup" dialog displays -- click "Change Installed
Components".
6) "Feature Selection" is displayed.
The two main trees are Client COmponents and "Documentation,
Samples and Sample Data".
In this case, all are shown with "RED X" - no installed.
7) Change "Documentation, Samples and Sample Data". to :Entire Feature
will be installed."
8) A message is displayed indicates that the components I selected are
already installed.
=== anopther path =====
1) Control Panel >Add Remove Programs
2) select "Microsoft SQL Server" -- "Change"
3) Select ( ) SQL 2005 common componets / Workstation Components
(click next)
4) System Config Check Launches (click next, it passes ALL OK), click
next
5) "Tools Setup" dialog displays -- click "Change Installed
Components".
6) "Feature Selection" is displayed.
The two main trees are Client COmponents and "Documentation,
Samples and Sample Data".
All are shown with the disk icon indicating that a feature has
already been installed. (The only choice I can make is to deinsstall
an option to free up space.)
There is no "advanced" button on this dialog, only a "disk cost"
button, along with Help/Back/Next/Cancel buttons. Proceeding forward
accomplishes nothing.
--- similar results if instead of Workstation component in step 3
above, I choose a server instance.
My other alternative is the following
1) Control Panel >Add Remove Programs
2) Choose "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Samples", Change
3) CLick Modify
4) Microsoft SQL Samples is displayed as an installed option. Click
next.
5) Indicates sucessful install. (But nothing is actually installed).
Any additional step by step would be appreciated to get to point in
your instructions.
Thanks,
d.
