Hi All,

I have a MSDE database application that is currently running very happily on
Windows 2000, P4 Xeon 2.4GHz, with 1GB of RAM.

We want to upgrade the server due to it being off of lease, and am looking
at 2 Dual Core Xeon 3.0 w/ 2MB Cache, and 2GB or 4GB of RAM.

This server will also handle all of the day to day file and print and DC
functions.

Any issues anyone can see running such an MSDE application on the proposed
HW? What are the MAX hardware that MSDE will function with? Will it utilize
the 2nd Proc for queries?

Thanks in advance.

MSDE will use both CPUs, but the max memory MSDE will use is 2 GB. Upgrading
to 4GB should work just fine for your needs.

Thanks Arnie..

So just for clarification -- it will support 4 CPUs? or only 2?

Thanks.

Mike,

As indicated on the link that I sent you, MSDE supports a max of two (2)
CPUs -even dual cores.
