| Hi
I created some FTP dts on a client machine using
enterprise manager and the FTP task and they worked fine
when I created them . Later
I discovered when I opened them on a client
machine in Enterprise Manager it brought up an unspecified error and the
package won't open or run. They can still open and run on the
server without error. Only the dts's using the ftp task
are effected, whether it is copying or FTPing.
I have exported the dts file from the server and
tried to reimport it from the client but to no avail.
This affects all clients.
One other thing: the server doen't have the ability to sav as a meta
data service.
I would be grateful for any help on this as it is not obvious where
the problem is.
thanks

| MDS saving is generally slow and was intentionally hidden in SP3 (right
click on the DTS folder in EM and select Properties. You can enable it
here)
What is the version of SQL Server on the box that does not work?
What is the error message?

| that's interesting, i installed sp4 on the server last week.
the box not working just has enterprise manager on it (2000)
I wrote the dts's on this and saved them. When I try to
reopen them the give an "Unspecified error" and fail to open
ieven though i can open them on the server and run them.
If I delete the ftp task in the dts from the server and save,
then I can open the dts on the client. So it is definitely the ftp taks
Bizarrre
thanks
