Author Jobs not running

I have some jobs that just started failing. They were working fine and then
they just stopped. Nothing was changed. This has happened before and then
they just started working again. Can anybody tell me why this happens. The
jobs execute DTS packages that import data from text files and other
databases. The DTS packages work fine when run on their own. It is just when
I try to run them as a scheduled job they fail.
