Installing Reporting service to non-default folder bring about iss

I've installed reporting service many times and it worked well until
yesterday I installed the reporting service to a different directory (D:\
drive.) The sql server is installed on D:\ too.

When I tried to open a report solution, I got an error message
"D:\MSSQL\Reporting Services\Samples\Rep
orts\SampleReports.rptproj" is not
installed. Make sure the application for the project type (.rptproj) is
installed.

When I tried to open a new report project, I got an error message: "Strong
name validation failed for assembly
"Microsoft.ReportingServices.Designer.dll".

Any idea what's happening here? Many thanks.

Hi Michael,

From your descriptions, I understood that youw would like to open rptproj
files and get the error message said it is not installed correctly. If I
have misunderstood your concern, please feel free to point it out.

Based on my knowledge, it is entirely possible that your VS.NET is not
installed correctly instead of your Reporting Services is not installed
correcly. Please uninstall Reporting Services and then uninstall VS.NET.
With a complete uninstallation, install VS.NET and then install Reporting
Services.
