Author Legend and Pie Values(Point Labels) - Poor Visibility

I am using SSRS2000 and have 2 problems.

1. The values displayed in the legend are mostly hidden and are cut off
mid word with '...' appended which makes it useless and most of the time
the values are unreadable - can I correct this ? It doesn't seem to
matter where I position the legend it will just never display in its
entirety making it a pointless feature.

2. The Point labels on my Pie are often unreadable in smaller segments.
I changed the position of the Point labels in Visual Studio 2003 which
renders it exactly as I want with a line coming off the segment
indicating the values. However, the report server chooses to ignore this
for some reason and just renders the labels in an unreadable format on
the pie itself.

I am at my wits end with this product at the moment as it seems to make
the slightest things unnecessarily difficult.

Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated.

Thanks, Simon
William

1. Have you tried to display the legend below the report in columnar format?
This provides a wider area for display. Also you can configure the display by
setting the series label on the values edit tab under chart properties.

2. How did you accomplish this? I have this same problem on a couple charts
I recently did and I could not find a way to place the labels outside the data

Doesn't seem to make the slightest bit of difference where legend is or
how much room it has ?

I never did accomplish it. Visual Studio preview displays it as I would
like and as expected but when the report is deployed to the report
server and then viewed the labels are displayed back inside the chart
again and in some cases practically impossible to read.

Howdy,

Brian Welcker has a weblog entry on making custom chart legends in
RS2k.
