Author Cryptic error in AS 2005 processing

I'm getting the "Internal error: An unexpected exception occured" message
when processing a dimension in AS 2005.
In the "Process Progress" window, all hierarchies say "Completed
successfully", all the queries seem to have worked, at least there is no
error message next to them, and when I run them in QA they work fine.

But at the bottom, under "Errors and Warnings from Response", I get the
"Internal error ...", several times.
I did set up a processing error log in the Change Settings dialog of the
Process Dimension dialog, but the log files stays empty.

Where can I start looking for the cause? Is there a log file where I could
see what AS was trying to do and which error it got?

The error occurs when I replace the test database with the live database (it
has more fact rows) in the data source of the solution. I get no errors with
the test database. So, There must be something wrong with the live database.
I'd just like to know where to start looking.

Both databases are on SQL Server 2005, in 8.0 compatibility mode.

Problem disappeared after I processed all dimensions one by one in Management
Studio, and then full processed the cube.
No idea why it didn't work in Visual Studio.

Hello,

Nice to see the issue is resolved.

This internal error might be locking conflict occurs during processing of
the cube. This problem may occur if processing starts before locks are
acquired on objects.

Since error log is empty, to find out the root cause of this issue we may
need to analyze memory dumps, this work has to be done by contacting
Microsoft Product Support Services. Therefore, we probably will not be able
to resolve the issue through the newsgroups.I recommend that you open a
Support incident with Microsoft Product Support Services so that a
dedicated Support Professional can assist with this case. If you need any
help in this regard, please let me know.

Btw James, if possible it would be great if you could configure the server
to allow sending error dumps using Watson -- this way the dump file will get
automatically uploaded to the Watson database and we can try to address
commonly hit issues in service packs.

Thanks,
Akshai
