Author Can't create aggregations!

Hi,
I have AS2000, SP3 on WinServ2000 std. I can't seem to create any
aggregations for any cubes.

When I use the Storage wizard, it happily goes through and estimates the
calcs it is going to create (say 119, using roughly 118MB), and then saves
the cube and processes it but no aggregations are actually created? If I
look at the data files there are no rigid agg files despite all of the
dimensions being regular.

I've experimented with custom and noncustom aggregations and different cubes
and three different AS Servers and they are all the same - the wizard does
it's thing - then no aggregations. I'm doing exactly the same as I've done
at other companies so I really don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Any ideas?
Ta

Have you created attribute relationships to indicate that the user-defined
hierarchies you have in place are natural hierarchies?

Your comment means absolutely nothing to me, but thanks anyway.
Anybody else....

Dave was referring to AS 2005-specific considerations, which you might
not yet be familar with. Anyway, when you manually process a cube or
partition, does the Analysis Manager dialog go through the "creating
aggregations.." phase? Any useful info in the Processing Log?

Processing Log File

Analysis Services does not record a processing log by default; you must
enable the recording of a processing log file. The processing log file
is a system-wide text file containing all of the processing information
you see displayed in the Process dialog box in Analysis Manager when you
process a partition, dimension, or mining model.

Paul,
I had the same error. In my case "Fact Table Size" was "0". After entering
fact table size, aggregations creation succeded.

Paul,

Mark Hill did an excellent post on setting up aggregations in AS 2005
that sounds like the same issue that your are hitting.
