| Are there any specific functional areas / kinds of analysis that MSAS can
handle well or where MSAS has any limitations compared to other BI tools?
I also need information on performance and other issues that might be need to
be considered while deciding on whether MSAS can be used for implementing a
BI solution.
Is there any place where I can get info on all this?
thanks a lot!

| 2005 provide specific features for financial analysis
there is a predefined account dimension (created from a wizard)
except dedicated financial software, I'm not sure if you can found any tool
which provide a good access except AS 2005.
for the performance question, you can handle millions of rows easely.
I have a 100 millions rows cube where most of the queries are anserwed under
1second.

| Some of the account dimension features looked pretty good.
Using the wizard you could tag accounts as being of various types
(income, expense, balance sheet) and whether the could be added up over
the time dimension or whether they should use some other scheme (such as
a closing balance) to calculate their value.
I think from memory the wizard lets you define these accounts according
to numbering schemes (eg accounts beginning with '4' are expenses) I
have not used this feature, only seen it demo'ed so I hope I got the
details right.
