By setting one of the measures to DistinctCount, I can create a
different Measure Group from the same table.

However, it is difficult to control all the subsequent measures are
also created in the new Measure Group. I could get it work
occasionally but not consistently. Is there a known trick for this?

I got it.

Move the destination Measure Group up (using the up/down arrow), and
new measure created will be placed in the higher group.
