Web Client for Cubes
|
|
|
| In AS2000 we used Pivot table (OWC) to get Cube data on web. I think that was
not easy to do, I mean lot of coding....
Is there any thing new we have with AS2005 for web client. I understand we
can use old way but is there any new web client for cube...I was thinking
they may add some thing in Reporting Services .... I liked the new stuff like
Report Model in Reporting Services but what we have for WEB CLIENT for Cubes
in whole SQL Server 2005 package.
Thank you - Ashok

| There is not that much that is new in terms of client tools for AS from
Microsoft. One thing that not a lot of people are aware of is that in
Reporting Services 2005 you can point a Report Build Model to an
Analysis Services Cube (UDM)
Marco Russo has details on his blog here:
http://www.sqljunkies.com/WebLog/sq...1/15/17397.aspx
Mosha has one of the most comprehensive lists of MS and third party AS
clients on his site at http://www.mosha.com/msolap/util.htm#ThinClients
One thing that I did not see on Mosha's site was the BI Portal sample.
It uses OWC and Sharepoint Services, but it makes setting up OWC reports
more of a configuration exercise than a programming one. Setting up new
reports is simply a case of drag, drop and save.
