Hi,

I have server 1 just with Analysis Services and server 2 just with SQL
Server 2000. I would like to create a a DTS task on server 2 how ever do not
find the Analysis Services Processing task icon. How can I process the OLAP
database remotely?

Thanks in advance for any advice
Pete

You might have to install the PTS tools on your non-Analysis Services box to
get access to the remote Analysis Services server.
You find these in both the Analysis Services installation and all service
packs. Unpack your service pack and look for PTSFull.exe and PTSLite.exe in
<servicepack-folder>\Msolap\Install\PTS. You need to have the same service
pack level of your PTS tool as your Analysis Services server.

Installing PTS will not help in this situation as PTS is only used for
querying AS. What you need is the DSO library.

It says at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?
url=/library/en-us/dnsql2k/html/dts_overview.asp that the analysis
services processing task is only installed when you install Analysis
Services, but it does not mention if it gets installed with the Server
or the Client tools. One option might be to run the install for analysis
services, but only install the client tools.

There was also a thread a couple of years ago on how to register this
task manually (provided you have the required files - which may be on
your AS server):
