Could this have something to do with the config.nt file in the windows
system directory? Seems someone else had a DOS subsystem error and the
suggested fix was to replace that file.

i had a similar problem with dBase 4 and XP it was caused by automatic updates to XP. Unfortunately i cant remember which update caused the problem, however the way i got round it was to uninstall each update try to run db4 if it did not work uninstall
the next one etc

Hi Paul: I also had that problem; it was solved when Service Pack 2 for XP was applied to my OS. Hope this helps!
