| When my hard disk crashed, my files and irreplaceable programs which were in dBaseIV for DOS became unusable when transfered to the new hard disk. I can't find my original dBaseIV disks. Dbase now won't start, says it can't find a .pif file. Clicking setu
p asks if I want to reconfigure the config.sys file. Is the best approach to try to get a copy of dBaseV (e-bay?) Any problems?

Does the program run if you start a command window first? That is,
start a command window to access the DOS prompt, navigate to the dBase
IV folder and start dBase from there.
You probably just need to set up a .pif file for the shortcut to run DOS
correctly. I know Romain has posted details on the contents of such a
..pif in the past, but don't remember the details myself.
What operating system are you using?
