2.6 and 2.21 on same PC

| I just downloaded my 2.6 version.
Does anybody know if it will be possible to use 2.6 and 2.21 on the same PC?

| HI Pieter,
Are you talking about runtime environment or IDE. I think you can do both,
You hust have to have a different bin directory, one for each version, then
run the appropo\iate exe from that version. For runtime, You could put the
appropiate runtime into the root folder of the app, or change the registry
setting for that app to point to the correct runtime

Hi Robert,
I am talking about IDE. Do not want to lose ability to design in 2.21 before
I tested 2.6

Yes, but I'm not sure how the new download installs. I guess the easiest
thing to do is to copy the current 2.21 bin folder, call it bin221 or
something, then install 2.6 over the top. You should then be able to
start 2.21 by running plus.exe in the bin221 folder.

In addition to making a copy of the Plus bin folder, you should make
copies of the dQuery and ProjExp folders too. These components have also
been upgraded. After you move the 2.21 files to a new bin folder, look
at the plus.ini file in this new folder and change the source alias
paths for dQ and PE.

Thank you Michael, I'll give it a try and ask again if I run into any other
trouble

| Sure is. Just install them to different folders.
When I first received PLUS, it installed to the dBase\Plus folder, and
ignored the dBase\dB2K folder. When I installed 2.21, I let it overwrite the
2.01 installation.
When I received Plus 2.5, I was a little leery after some of the changes to
the report writer, so I installed it to dBase\Plus25 and the two "play well"
together.
The only problem is with the help files. When I call up help in Plus2.21,
it opens the help for Plus2.5 (you can see the difference as well as the new
topic) but that is not a big thing.
As for 2.6, that will depend on if you have the full install or the update.
The update will only install over top of Plus2.5. I would think that the
full install would allow you to pick your installation folder.
