| I installed norton anti virus on a windows XP computer now when I try to start dbase I get this error;
"X#=OD, CS=01A7 IP=0000759B. The NTVDM CPU has encountered an unhandled exception."
Does anyone know what this means or how to fix it ???

| Which version of Norton AV?
We use the Symantec Corp. AV, same company slightly different engine, but
they share a lot of common components. From what I can tell, there is a
separate scanner for the 16bit system and it doesn't always install
correctly. I have five machines that still run dBase 5 apps. One of them
throws an error whenever dBase is started.
Try excluding the dBase IV folders (dBase and your applications) from the
scan. That may stop Norton from loading the 16bit scanner.

| Next step is to un-install the A-V system. See if things run cleanly then
re-install.
If it's still a problem, see if you can get a copy of dBase V for DOS
installed. Your applications will still be the same, but there were some
issues with IV on newer systems that were fixed in release IV 1.5 and later
V.
