Author Installing dBase Plus runtime b1807 on machine with dBase Plus b1804

I'm deploying an application with the installer
" dBASEPlusRuntimeEngi
ne1807_EN.exe". The machine I'm developing the
application on has dBase Plus 2.5 has b1804.

Is it OK for me to test install the application on this machine without
creating problems? If there are no foreseen problems, I assume that by doing
this it will simply upgrade dBase Plus 2.5 b1804 to b1807.

How come it will upgrade dbase to build 1807 ?
I have this problem for two weeks now and I even applied the patch on the
dbase web site with no difference.
Deploying version 1807 doesn't affect my application but I still have build
1804 for dbase.

When a more recent Runtime is used to execute some application compiled
with a previous version of dBASE PLUS, the application takes advantage of
the improvements made into dBASE: essentially, all the bugs that have
been killed don't show. You don't see new _features_ brought into dBASE
meanwhile because you didn't know that these features were coming, thus
your code don't request them. Rarely, the new runtime has a 'regression'
(a bug that was killed reappears): then, your application will carry that
bug.

As far as I know, the runtime for dBASE PLUS doesn't execute applications
compiled with Visual dBASE or with dB2K: each of them request that their
own runtime to be used. If I am right about this, let's hope that dBI
will keep the name "dBASE PLUS" for their flagship product for many, many
years.

On the other hand, installing a new _runtime_ doesn't affect the version
of the dBASE with which you are creating new programs on your computer:
under the IDE, your code is _never_ run by PLUSrun.exe, but rather by the
older PLUS.exe
