HI all,

Would any 1 here make use of a dbase channel on irc. Irc seems to be nice
for chant and instant answers if there are those that would help.

If you would make use of something like this, let me know

THanks
RObert

Hi Pat,

IRC is pretty simple. You have a client, like mIRC, you connetc to a
network, like DalNet, create a nick and join a channel. Most time you join a
channel by issueng /join #channelname as in /join #dbase
Then start typing live
If you have opera8.5 browser it has a small and neat irc client build in.
I havent yet regesterd the channel correctly, wanted to first find out the
interest. But the channel will and is up, for most of the time on Dalnet as
#dbase. Obviously most of the time it is empty just me there. Hopefully this
will change as people get into it. If they do

Well, now there are two of us, not that I expect to be able to contribute
much.

I had no problem creating the chat account (using Opera 8.5) but after
less than 10 minutes my firewall detected an attempted intrusion and cut
the chat room off. I wasn't able to get back so I'll leave it until
tomorrow.

Thanks Rob...
I downloaded mIRC and installed it. I see about 5 dalnet servers. Which one
do I need to log into? I didnt see a dbase room. Also, is there a way to
tell what rooms are active and how many folks are there?

Thanks
Pat

HI Pat,

When you open mIRC to connect. On the menu, File... select sercers... A
window opens, under category, expand connect, select servers. On the right
Select DALnet from IRC networks. Under IRC Server, select Randam server,
click connect.

To join a channel issue the command /join #channel name, so once connected,
you would say /join #dbase. To get a list of people you would issue a comman
/list #channelname. To see how namy channels there are, menu tools list
channels. It will then download a list of channels, which will show the
channel name, how many users and the topic.
Double click to join.
Currently the dbase channel is still empty. It has me in it. I am connected
to it from work as all the time, but when I am not at work, I wont answer,
but will connect form home as well.
