Author Ethernet vs Wireless Reliability

Hello

I'm not sure which group this question should post under so I will just ask
it here. I have created an extensive program that handles internet
downloads and controls other computers on my network. Currently I have the
option to use wireless or ethernet connections from my laptop which runs the
entire program. Presently, I have no connection issues and I really can't
tell the difference between using my wireless and using my ethernet cords.
However, I just have this feeling that my downloads would be more reliable
if I were to use ethernet instead of my wireless. I download a lot of
streaming media files as well as large files, would my system be more
reliable if I used ethernet all of the time?

Any thoughts or opinions on this matter would be appreciated.

As long as your wireless connection is reliable, and your downloads come
from the Internet, and the Internet does not get significantly faster
than it is now, and there are not a lot of users sharing the same
wireless connection then you have nothing to worry about.

Most wireless routers are faster than the Internet so there should not
be a problem with wireless unless you have "a bunch" of users sharing
the same wireless connection. Capacity depends on the product you're
using. If you don't mind the possible security risk with wireless you
should be OK.

That being said, if you have access to a wired connection, and the wired
connection is CAT5/5E certified and the run is not too long then your
wired connection will likely be more reliable than wireless.

If you're running other applications (especially DBL programs that
access network databases) than your wired ethernet will likely blow your
wireless away (unless you have a very good wireless box).
