Users of Windows 98 and ME are getting the following error when they install
our software. There are no problems with XP and 2000.

Error message:

MSVFW32.DLL is linked to a missing or corrupt ntdll.dll: memmov

Any ideas?

TIA

-----
"missing or corrupt ntdll.dll" - states the problem clearly, no?

"Ntdll.dll is an NT layer DLL file that controls Windows NT system
functions."
"ntdll.dll is a Windows System File and should be in a system directory."
http://www.iamnotageek.com/a/ntdll.dll.php

Make sure the file is available, if it is, replace it.

MSVFW32.DLL is Microsoft Video for Windows DLL.
"msvfw32.dll is the module that contains bitmap compression and
decompression routines used for Microsoft Video for Windows."

Trying to use AVIs in your application?
Most likely you was installing the wrong version of MSVFW32.dll to your=20
customers' site. You must install a special "Non-NT-Technology version".

Here is from my knowledge-base how to do it, unfortunately, I do not=20
remember from where I was "snatching" this info; I hope the author will=20
not be offended for this.

~~~ =09
This issue can occur in Windows 98 or Windows ME if either of the=20
following files is damaged, missing, or of the incorrect version.
* Msvfw32.dll
* Msvideo.dll
To resolve this behavior, rename the Msvfw32.dll and Msvideo.dll files,=20
and then extract new copies of these files from your original Microsoft=20
Windows compact disc (CD) (or from the \Windows\Install\Opt
ions or=20
\Windows\Install\Cab
s folder) to the Windows\System folder on your hard=20
disk. To do this, follow these steps.
1. Rename the Msvfw32.dll and Msvideo.dll Files:
2. Insert your Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows Millennium=20
Edition (Me) Startup disk into the floppy disk drive of your computer,=20
and then restart your computer.
3. When the Windows 98 or Windows Me Startup menu appears, select=20
Start computer with CD-ROM Support. Make a note of the drive letter of=20
your CD-ROM drive, for example, E:.
4. At the command prompt, type the following lines and press ENTER=20
after each line:
C:
cd Windows\System
5. Rename the Msvfw32.dll and Msvideo.dll files file by using the=20
..old extension. To do this, type the following lines and press ENTER=20
after each line:
ren msvfw32.dll msvfw32.old
ren msvideo.dll msvideo.old
6. Insert your Windows 98 or Windows Me compact disc (CD) into the=20
CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
7. At the command prompt, type the following lines and press ENTER=20
after each line:
A:
ext
8. At the "Please enter the path to the Windows CAB files (a:)"=20
prompt, type drive:\win98 (if you are running Windows 98) or type drive:
\win9x (if you are running Windows Me), where drive is the drive letter=20
of your CD-ROM drive, and then press ENTER. For example, type:
E:\win98
-or-
E:\win9x
NOTE: If you have an original equipment manufacturer (OEM)=20
installation of Windows, the installation files may also be located in=20
one of the following folders.
C:\Windows\Options\C
abs (for Windows 98)
C:\Windows\Options\I
nstall (for Windows Me)
where C is the drive on which Windows is installed. If these files=20
are on your computer, you do not need your Windows CD because you can=20
extract the files from the appropriate folder on your hard disk. For=20
example, for Windows Me, type C:\Windows\Options\I
nstall, and then press=20
ENTER.
9. At the Please enter the name(s) of the files(s) you want to=20
extract prompt, type msvfw32.dll msvideo.dll, and then press ENTER.
10. At the Please enter the path to extract to ("Enter" for current=20
directory) prompt, type C:\Windows\System, and then press ENTER.
11. At the Is this okay? (y/n) prompt, type Y, and then press ENTER.
12. Remove your Windows 98 or Windows Me Startup disk, and then=20
restart your computer.
Hi Roland,
not really, ntdll.dll does exist on both win98 and ME platforms in system
folder and has a different size to 2000 and xp pro.
Mark,
sorry, I can't give you any advice on this matter. I was only quoting
information found by Google.
But see Lysander's message, hope it will help.
