Visual dBase 5.7 on XP question
|
|
|
| Does Visual dBase 5.7 have the same file locking problems when running on Windows XP as dBase IV for Dos does?
I upgraded some computers to Windows XP and my dBase IV for Dos programs are losing records every so often. I need to perform a quick fix now to add stability to the system then I'll rewrite the system using dBASE PLUS 2.6.

| You MUST use a shortcut and check the 'use in own memory space' or you will have locking issues.

| Where is the "use in own memory space" setting located?

Do a rightmouse click on the shortcut and choose properties. You'll see
it. You can do this in XP and 2000.

For the most part you should be fine. In the bde, set "local share to
true". I have 5.7 network apps that work just fine "on lots of
computers" running Windows 95 thru XP.
