hi,

i have trouble to create filenames longer than 8 charaters.

like

!copy hallo.txt hallohallo.txt

will result in a file called hallohal.txt

i need to deliver a database to a client each day that needs to have a 13-digit filname.

any idea?

Upgrade to a software package that uses long filenames. DOS applications
by definition recognize the 8.3 filename structure and that's it ...

dBASE Plus has no such limitations ... (just those built in to Windows).
