Running multiple versions of SQL Anywhere Studio

| Can you run versions 7.0.2 and 9.0.2 of SQL Anywhere
Studio on the same Windows 2000 server? Or can't you
because of version 7.0.2 concurrent licensing conflicting
with 9.0.2 per seat licensing?

| They will run fine together, no conflicts.

We were unable to run both at the same time in an almost
identical setup. However I later read, that you need to
start ASA 7 before ASA 9. We tried it the other way
around and couldn't get ASA 7 to start (both were to run
as services under the SYSTEM user), so we just left it
at that.
Maybe someone can confirm this?!

| I can confirm the opposite - I have several ASA 7 and
ASA 9 servers running at the same time on my comp,
and both versions are starting/stopping frequently, no
conflict ever.
Maybe it's in my Win XP (you're writing about Win 2000).

| The only problems are with the utilties such as dbbackup, dbunload etc
that are not marked with the version number.
I personally have had Watcom3.x, Watcom4, SQL Anywhere 5, and Adaptive
Server Anywhere 6 through 9 installed on my machine and was able to run
a variety of combinations of the engine at given times.
If you are having problems running ASA7 and ASA9, we would be more than
happy to help you to try and address those issues.

This is a problem if you are trying to start both servers on the same
TCP/IP port (or both on the default port).
What is the startup parameters for both services?

That was probably it. We did not specify the TCP/IP port for
either. I guess I expected ASA7 to just use another port.
- But come to think of it, our network connection only allows
a single port through, so even if we had specified another
port, it wouldn't have been of any use :-)
Oh well, it was just a nice to have, anyway.
Thanks for the info though.
